Pikesville
Founded more than 200 years ago, Pikesville was named for American soldier and explorer Zebulon Pike, whose name also graces Pikes Peak in Colorado. Today the town is home not only to North Oaks, but also to a thriving community of retail and service businesses, Maryland State Police Headquarters, a wide assortment of restaurants, a number of synagogues and churches and two outstanding hospitals—Sinai Hospital and Northwest Hospital Center, both part of LifeBridge Health Systems.
Located just off I-695, Pikesville is a prosperous community with quiet neighborhoods. Bordering on Greenspring Valley to the north and the thoroughbred horse farms located there, Pikesville has its own exclusive qualities and an atmosphere that is both small town and even rural in feel. Yet it is also just 20 minutes from exciting downtown Baltimore and less than an hour from Washington, DC.
